Gilbert B. Switala, Jr.
Gil was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Pittsburgh, earning a degree in Political Science in 1987. Gil attended law school at the University of Dayton and graduated in 1990. He began his legal career at Dyer Garofalo & Mann, where he handled a wide variety of personal injury, wrongful death, and insurance claims. In 1999, he and Jim Thorson joined forces and started Thorson & Switala LLP in downtown Dayton. In 2008, the firm was renamed Thorson Switala Mondock & Snead LLP with the addition of Joe Mondock and Jeff Snead as partners. Gil has devoted his entire career to representing seriously injured individuals and their grieving families, helping them receive maximum compensation for their loss. Gil has earned a reputation of being trustworthy, aggressive, and fair.
Gil is an active member of the Dayton legal community, having served as Treasurer and Board Member of the Miami Valley Trial Lawyers Association. Gil also served as Vice-Chair of the Legislative Committee for Ohio Association of Justice, a state-wide legal organization which advocates for the rights of injury victims. He served on the Dayton Bar Association Ethics Committee for over ten years, where he investigated ethical complaints made by clients against their attorneys.
In 2007, Gil participated in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Man and Woman of the Year campaign to raise awareness and money to fight blood cancers. Gil resides in Springboro with his wife and four children and is a member of the Church of the Incarnation. He enjoys coaching his children’s CYO and select basketball and football teams. He serves on the Board of Trustees at Alter High School and has led fundraising campaigns for various school organizations. Gil is an avid UD and Buckeye sports fan and loves his hometown Steelers.

James M. Thorson, Jr.
Jim was born in Zanesville, Ohio. He followed in his father's footsteps and attended Ohio State University, where he majored in Business and Finance. He studied law at the University of Dayton - where he met classmate and future law partner - Gil Switala. While in law school, Jim was seriously injured in a car accident. Having suffered through that experience, he set off on a career path fighting the unfair tactics of insurance companies.
In 1990, he began practicing at a well known Dayton personal injury law firm, where he spent the next nine years handling a wide variety of personal injury and wrongful death cases. In 1999, he and Gil Switala started their own law firm, Thorson & Switala LLP, in downtown Dayton, focusing on personal injury claims and wrongful death cases. Jim has dedicated his entire legal career to fighting for those injured by the negligent and reckless conduct of others. For more than a decade, Jim served on the Dayton Bar Association Ethics Committee, where he investigated ethical complaints made by clients against local attorneys and judges.
He resides in Springboro with his wife and three children. He enjoys coaching his children’s basketball, lacrosse, golf, and soccer teams. He is also a member of St. Henry Church.

Joseph J. Mondock
Joe Mondock is from Cleveland, Ohio, and attended Holy Name High School. In 1998, he graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy, cum laude. Always having an interest in the law, Joe worked as an intern after college for a venerable personal injury and medical malpractice firm in Cleveland. That experience convinced him to begin studying law at the University of Dayton. While in law school, he was employed as a clerk for his current firm researching and writing about the emerging area of insurance law known as Scott-Pontzer claims. In 2002, he earned his law degree and received the CALI Award in Civil Trial Practice and Secured Transactions.
Joe was hired by Jim Thorson and Gil Switala as the firm's first associate attorney. In 2008, he became a Partner of the newly formed Thorson Switala Mondock & Snead LLP. He was recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine as a Rising Star from 2011-2015 and is a Top Rated attorney by AVVO . He participates in Dayton’s Volunteer Lawyer Program (VLP), where he provides pro bono legal services to the Dayton community. He also mentors newly admitted attorneys through the Ohio Supreme Court's Lawyer to Lawyer Mentoring Program. Joe practices in all areas of personal injury and employment law.
Joe led the firm’s relocation and construction of their new office building in Miamisburg. He lives in Washington Township with his wife Audrey, who is a labor and employment attorney for a Fortune 500 company, and daughter Olivia. He is a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in downtown Dayton. Joe enjoys cooking, biking, and skiing with his family. He is a devoted Cleveland Browns fan and Puch moped enthusiast.

Jeffrey W. Snead
Jeff Snead is an experienced civil litigation attorney with strong roots to Dayton, Ohio, and the surrounding communities. On his mother’s side of the family, he is a direct descendant of Jonathon Wright, the Founder of Springboro, Ohio. Jeff’s Grandfather, Earl C. Wright, was the family doctor in Waynesville, Ohio, for many years. Jeff’s father was a veterinarian who practiced in West Carrollton, Ohio. He grew up in Centerville, Ohio, and graduated from Centerville High School in 1986.
After high school, Jeff attended Indiana University and graduated with a major in Economics and a minor in Political Science in 1990. Jeff returned to Ohio to attend the University Of Toledo College Of Law, graduating in 1994. While at Toledo, Jeff won the 1992 Charles W. Fornoff Moot Court Competition and the Barrister Award for his Appellate advocacy. He also participated on the College of Law’s Constitutional and National Moot Court teams.
Jeff began his legal career in the public sector as a Staff Attorney in the Court of Claims of Oho in Columbus, where he served the Judges of the Court as they presided over a wide variety of civil lawsuits filed against the State of Ohio. In 1997, Jeff moved back to his hometown to begin his civil litigation practice as an associate with the law firm Crew, Buchanan and Lowe. Jeff’s practice included family law, personal injury, medical malpractice, and general civil litigation. In 2000, Jeff joined the law firm of Gregory C. Gibson Co. LPA, concentrating his practice in medical malpractice and personal injury litigation. Jeff became a Partner, and the firm changed to Gibson, Wilkins and Snead Co. LPA. The firm primarily defended physicians and doctors in malpractice lawsuits but also began representing victims of medical negligence. Realizing that his true passion was advocating for those who have been injured or harmed through no fault of their own, Jeff joined Thorson Switala Mondock & Snead LLP in 2002.
Jeff’s current civil litigation practice includes personal injury, medical malpractice, and general trial work. In 2013, Jeff achieved the highest recognition by his peers for legal ability and ethics, having earned an AV rating by Martindale Hubble . He is also the only attorney that participates in the Dayton Bar Association’s Referral Service for personal injury and medical malpractice claims. Jeff has mentored many young attorneys through the Ohio Supreme Court's Lawyer to Lawyer Mentoring Program.
Jeff and his wife Karla Snead are proud Centerville Elks. They have a son, Jakob Snead, and a daughter, Ella Snead. They attend Epiphany Lutheran Church, where Karla is employed as a pre-school teacher. They reside in Centerville, Ohio.
